Coordinated disclosure and editorial policy

This policy is ready for operator and jurisdiction-specific legal review. It does not represent an acquired legal opinion or a promise of staffed incident response. Register the real responsible researcher, independent technical reviewer, duty editor and backup before commencing the publishing operation.

Research operates only on authorized artifacts, public-source data, explicitly consented telemetry and approved laboratory targets. Partners supply written authority, permitted purposes, retention requirements and sharing rights. Synthetic credentials and controlled networking are required for execution. Requests for unauthorized access or exploitation of unrelated live targets do not enter the laboratory workflow.

Contact and sample handling

Use the organization's configured research contact and authenticated protected intake. Confirm the contact, actual duty coverage and acknowledgement process before advertising a response-time commitment. Sample submissions require submitter identity, lawful origin, research consent, explicit public-release permission, license and TLP v2 instructions. TLP is a sharing instruction, not a copyright license. Samples are hashed and quarantined without execution; private submissions and agreements never enter the hosted public projection.

Coordination

Record contact preparation, actual send evidence, acknowledgement, status updates, vendor/CERT coordination, requested extensions, patch availability and verified patch behavior. Preparing a contact or recording a milestone does not send a message. Sending uses the existing explicit approval path.

Each case records a justified deadline and embargo rather than applying an universal fixed disclosure clock. Consider severity, exploit availability, affected parties, vendor response and harm from early release. Record the recipient, agreed next step, responsible person and next due date. Extensions and active-exploitation exceptions need a named editor's decision and rationale. Coordinate shared dependencies and other affected vendors rather than treating a single vendor's response as permission to expose everyone else.

An early factual status notice can have a different release date from technical details. Both undergo review and respect applicable coordination restrictions. Do not describe predicted exploitation or a third-party report as SecOpsAI's observation. Verify affected versions and patches before publishing remediation claims. Close the case only after documenting unresolved limitations and follow-up.

Release checks

Independent technical review covers claims, affected versions, reproduction, alternatives, detections, mitigations, attribution and limitations. Editorial review covers privacy, secrets, sharing rights, licensing, embargo, coordination, credits, commercial conflicts and exposure counts. The author cannot approve their own original finding. Models are assistants and challengers; their agreement cannot satisfy the human gate. Editors approve the exact version of the article.

Articles distinguish original discovery, independent verification, meaningful extension and source summaries. Record dated prior-art searches and credit the earliest known sources and contributors. Shared infrastructure, IP addresses, names or code similarities are leads; attribution requires its own claim support. Affected-version statements do not establish deployment exposure or victim counts.

Publish scoped evidence and safe supporting material. Remove secrets, personal data, restricted telemetry and payloads that violate sharing rights. Disclose sponsorships and relevant commercial relationships; customers do not receive control over factual conclusions. Counsel must establish applicable authorization, privacy, data-transfer and publication procedures for actual jurisdictions.

Updates, corrections and retractions

Use stable advisory/case IDs and publication URLs. A material correction explains what changed, why, the supporting evidence and the affected conclusion. Preserve the original record in the private audit ledger. A retraction publishes a clear notice and reason. Corrected articles and retraction notices receive new editorial approval; silent replacement does not remove an original error from the audit. Record verified acknowledgements, independent reproductions, citations and tested defenses as outcomes. Do not turn counts or model confidence into a claim of scientific reputation or accuracy.
